Police charge Lower Sackville man with child pornography, Lower Sackville, N.S.

The Integrated Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) has charged a Lower Sackville man in a child pornography investigation.

On the morning of May 20, 2015, members of the Integrated ICE unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Emily Crt.

in Lower Sackville. A preliminary analysis of devices located at the residence confirmed they contained child pornography images.

Matthew David Rideout, 29, was arrested on May 22, 2015 without incident and is facing a charge of Possession of Child Pornography. Rideout was released from police custody on conditions and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on July 21, 2015. The investigation is continuing.

Police reminds Nova Scotians that it is mandatory for citizens to report suspected child pornography. This means that anyone who encounters child pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Children and Family Services Act. The RCMP encourages citizens to be a voice for children who are victims of sexual exploitation by reporting any suspected offences to your local police or by using Canada’s National tip line for reporting online sexual exploitation of children at www.cybertip.ca.
