Police have arrested a male after shots fired call in North Preston.

On Thursday, April 10th at 8:48 p.m., RCMP received a report of shots fired at a residence on Clarence Street.

The investigation revealed that a 15- year-old female had escaped from another residence on Clarence Street after she was held in the basement for the past two days and had been sexually assaulted.

Police arrested a 18-year-old male near the home in Preston and he is currently in custody. He will be facing numerous charges including sexual assault, weapons offences, and unlawful confinement.

The HRP/RCMP Integrated Sexual Assault Investigation Team (SAIT) is the lead unit. The Major Crime Unit (MCU), General Investigation Section (GIS) and VICE officers are assisting with the investigation. The matter remains under investigation.
