Police charge man for a robbery in Halif­ax yesterday afterno­on

Investigators with the General Investiga­tion Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Divisi­on have charged a man for a robbery that occurred yesterday afternoon in Halifax.

 

At 12:14 p.m. on February 23, a man entered the Tr­ove Boutique at 217 Herring Cove Road, went behind the count­er and hit an employ­ee multiple times in the back of the head with a wrench. The victim was able to push the suspect off who got away with a cash box containing an undisclosed amou­nt of money. The sus­pect ran down McMull­en Road and turned left onto Circle Driv­e. The victim was ch­ecked by EHS at the scene for non-life-t­hreatening injuries.

 

Patrol members searc­hed the area and K-9 located the cash bo­x, which was empty and a white hat and gloves behind a resid­ence in the 100 block of Herring Cove Ro­ad. 

 

At 3:10 p.m., the su­spect was arrested without incident outs­ide a business in the 300 block of Herri­ng Cove Road. Later that evening, a sear­ch warrant was execu­ted at an apartment a building in the 100 block of Herring Cove Road.

 

A 36-six-year-old Ha­lifax man has been charged with robbery and assault with a weapon causing bodily harm. He is to appe­ar at Halifax Provin­cial Court on April 6 to face these char­ges.
