Police charge man for break and enter in Halifax

Police have charged a man in relation to a break and enter into a Halifax business that occurred last week.

Shortly before 4 a.m. on December 28, 2018, officers responded to a report of a break and enter at Geebo Device Repair located at 6331 Lady Hammond Road in Halifax. Patrol officers searched the area but did not locate the two suspects who had left on foot with a quantity of electronic items.

Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division identified one of the suspects. He was arrested by a patrol officer without incident outside a Halifax residence on December 31 at approximately 8:20 p.m.

Thirty-three-year-old Joseph Daniel Gardiner of Halifax appeared in Halifax Provincial Court on January 2. He is charged with one count each of:

• Break and enter (348(1)(b) CC)
• Possession of stolen property over $5,000 (355(A) CC)
• Possess of break and enter tools (351(1) CC)
• Mischief (430(4) CC)
• Breach of probation (733.1(1)(a) CC)
• Breach of recognizance (145(3) CC)

The investigation is ongoing and investigators are continuing their efforts to identify the second suspect.
