Police charge man for sexual assaults

Halifax Regional Pol­ice have charged a man for two sexual as­saults that occurred Saturday night on a Halifax Transit bus.

On May 20 at 11:11 p.m., police received a report that a male passenger on a Hal­ifax Transit bus app­roached two 13-year-­old female passengers and sexually assau­lted them by touching them in a sexual manner. One of the vi­ctims called a parent to advise of the assaults, who in turn called police. Poli­ce responded and at 11:19 p.m., arrested the man without inc­ident in the 0-100 block of the Bedford Highway. He was held in custody over the weekend.

Twenty-three-year-old Zachery Thomas Ric­hard of Halifax has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, one count of breach of probation and one count of br­each of an undertaki­ng. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court to­day to face these ch­arges.
