Police charge man with making arrangements to commit a sexual offence against a child

Police have charged a Dartmouth man with making arrangements to commit a sexual offence against a child.

On July 20, 2018, police received information that a man was communicating with women located in the Halifax/Dartmouth area in relation to committing sexual offences against children. On December 2, 2018 police received a second complaint regarding the same man.

On March 20, 2019, investigators in the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search of an address on Breeze Drive in Dartmouth. Police seized an electronic device for forensic analysis. A man was arrested at the residence without incident.

Thirty-seven-year-old Samer Elmir of Dartmouth appeared in Dartmouth Provincial court yesterday to face a charge of making arrangements to commit a sexual offence against a child (CC Section 172.2(1)(b)).

Police ask anyone with information on childsexual abuse to report it by calling police at902-490-5020 or by using Cybertip.ca, Canada’s National Tip Line for reporting online sexual exploitation of children.
