One man was arrested earlier today and faces numerous weapons charges after a foot pursuit.

 

At 2 a.m., officers assigned to the uptown beat observed an intoxicated man in the 2300 block of Gottingen Street. As they approached him, the man took off running from police and was arrested after a short foot pursuit. Following his arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.

 

Twenty-year-old Walter Madeaus Brooks of Halifax will appear in Halifax Provincial Court later today. He faces the following charges:

 

CC 88(1) – Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace

CC 90 – Carrying a concealed weapon

CC 117.01(1) – Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order

CC 145(3) – Breach of undertaking (3 counts)

CC 733.1(1(a) – Breach of probation (3 counts)
