Police charge three persons in weapons call
Investigators in the Integrated General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division have charged three people in relation to a weapons call that occurred yesterday in Halifax.
At approximately 9:15 a.m. police responded to a weapons call in the 2700 block of Clifton Street in Halifax. Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that shots had been fired. No one was injured and police believe this was not a random act.
Officers took a 17-year-old male youth into custody at the scene at approximately 10:40 a.m., and arrested two additional suspects, a man and a woman, at approximately 3:30 p.m. following a motor vehicle collision on Highway 111 near Burnside Drive in Dartmouth. There was no police pursuit.
John David Marsh, 24, of Dartmouth, will appear in Halifax court today to face the following charges in relation to this incident:
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose (Sec. 88(1) CC)
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (Sec. 91(1) CC)
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized (CC Sec. 92(1) CC)
- Possession of a loaded firearm (Sec. 95(1) CC)
- Possession of a firearm while prohibited (Sec. 117.01(1) CC)
- Using a firearm in a commission of an offense (Sec. 85(1) CC)
- Careless use of a firearm (Sec. 86(1) CC)
- Pointing a firearm (Sec. 87(1) CC)
- Assault with a weapon (Sec. 267(a) CC)
- Breach of undertaking (Sec. 145(3) CC) x3
- Breaking and entering with intent (Sec. 348(1)(a) CC)
Alicia Michelle McInnis, 20, will appear at Halifax court today to face the following charges in relation to this incident:
- Breaking and entering with intent (Sec. 348(1)(a) CC)
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose (Sec. 88(1) CC)
A 17-year-old male youth will appear in Halifax youth court today to face the following charges in relation to this incident:
- Breaking and entering with intent (Sec. 348(1)(a) CC)
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose (Sec. 88(1) CC)
- Using a firearm in a commission of an offense (Sec. 85(1) CC)
- Breach of probation (Sec. 137 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act)
