Police charge two men in relation to assault

Police have charged two men in relation to an assault that occurred last night in Halifax.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. police responded to 2044 Gottingen Street to a report of a disturbance on the sidewalk involving two men. The men, who were known to one another, were involved in a physical altercation. One of the men poured an ignitable fluid on the other and attempted to ignite the fluid. The man who had the fluid poured on him sprayed the other man with a sensory irritant.

A third man, who was not involved in the altercation, was splashed with the ignitable fluid. As a result of the altercation the fluid was briefly ignited. The third man was treated and released from hospital.

Hetsham Hussain, 30, of Halifax, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Court today to face charges of:

• Assault with a weapon (X2)
• Possession of a dangerous weapon (X2)
• Aggravated assault

Jodell Chad Stundon, 27, of Halifax, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Court today to face charges of:

• Assault with a weapon
• Possession dangerous weapon
• Breach of recognizance
