Pedestrian hit by DUI driver

Police have charged a driver in relation to a vehicle pedestrian collision yesterday in Dartmouth.

At approximately 12:45 p.m. officers responded to a vehicle pedestrian collision near the 200 block of Wyse Road. The driver of the vehicle was turning right on to Wyse Road and struck a pedestrian who was on the sidewalk. The pedestrian was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was arrested for impaired driving.

A 35-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date to face charges of operating a conveyance while having a blood alcohol concentration over 80mg% and operating a conveyance while impaired causing bodily harm.

Halifax Regional Police would like to remind the public that if you see a potential impaired driver, call 911 immediately and give the call taker your location along with a description of the vehicle, including the licence plate number, colour, make and model, the direction of travel for the vehicle and a description of the driver.
