Police continue to investigate the murder of John Fulton Newcombe

Saturday marked the 12th anniversary of the murder of John Fulton Newcombe and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

On June 1, 2012, at approximately 2 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a shooting at Winston’s Pub and Eatery at 278 Lacewood Drive in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers located 27-year-old John Fulton Newcombe who had been shot and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators believe that John had just left the pub when he was shot, and that the shooter fled through a walkway towards Willett Street where they were picked up by a vehicle. 

Investigators believe that there are people who have information that could help solve John’s murder. We hope that the passage of time will encourage them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know. It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.

John’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes. The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.
