Charges lay 19 charges after drug searches (Update via HRP)

Police have laid 19 charges against eight people after searching three apartments at an address in Dartmouth last week.

At approximately 5 a.m. investigators in the Drug Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, conducted searches at three apartments in a building on Nivens Avenue in Dartmouth.

Eight people who had been inside the apartments were arrested without incident. Investigators seized a quantity of cocaine, cash and a loaded shotgun.

Dianne Lynn Acker, 39, of Dartmouth will appear in Dartmouth Court today to face charges of:
•Possession for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the controlled drugs and substances act
•Resist arrest contrary to section 129(a) of the criminal code
•Breach of probation contrary to section 733.1(1)a of the criminal code

Kyle Crawley, 30, of Dartmouth appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on November 1 to face charges of:
•Unsafe storage of a firearm contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code
•Dealing with a firearm contrary to regulations 86(2) of the Criminal Code
•Possession of dangerous weapon contrary to section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
•Unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code
•Possession of firearm without a license contrary to section 92(1) of the Criminal Code
•Breach of recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code
•Breach of probation contrary to section 733.1(1)a of the Criminal Code
•Possession for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Dawn Charmaine Beals, 50, of Dartmouth appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on November 1 to face charges of:

Rachael Leota Ratta, 22, of Dartmouth appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on November 1 to face charges of:

Raymond Garry Stroud, 35, of Dartmouth appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on November 1 to face charges of:

•Flight from peace officer contrary to section 320.17 of the Criminal Code
•Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
•Theft of motor vehicle contrary to section 333.1(1) of the Criminal Code

Harris Alvin Cromwell, 45, of Halifax appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on November 1 to face charges of:
•Possession for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Colin Ryan, 24, of Dartmouth appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on November 1 to face charges of:

HRP statement on November 4 media release on Nivens Ave Search

On November 4 HRP issued a media release that incorrectly named Terry Donald Crawley, 35, as being charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in relation to a search conducted by police at an apartment building on Nivens Avenue in Dartmouth. As clarified yesterday, Mr. Crawley was in fact not charged and we sincerely apologize for the mistake.

We understand that the media have removed his name from the stories based on previous clarifications. Additionally, the family requests that for further clarification the media consider adding this statement to the published stories.

Once again, we apologize for the error and appreciate the media’s cooperation.
