Police Identify Additional Incident Linked to Weekend Assaults

From HRPD:

Halifax Regional Police believe an assault that took place on Saturday night is connected to other group assaults.

Police received third-hand information last night about a man who was assaulted by a group of males on Saturday night. Officers were able to locate the victim who reported that he and a woman were walking in the area of Agricola and Harris Streets when a group of six or seven males approached them. One of the males said something to him and when the woman responded the males began assaulting the man. The woman tried to intervene which resulted in her being assaulted. The woman fled the area and both victims ended up attending hospital for treatment of their injuries. Neither victim could provide a more detailed description of the males.

As a result of information that was received last night, a separate assault report filed by the woman was found. Police believe this incident is connected to six similar incidents that occurred over the weekend. Officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section continue to investigate these matters and the resources added to address this issue remain in place.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 490-5016 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
