The victim in Friday night’s homicide in Halifax has been identified as 36-year-old Corey Duane Lucas of Halifax.
At approximately 8:40 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons call at 2711 Clifton Street in Halifax. Corey Lucas was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a second man, also in his thirties, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released. The autopsy on Corey Lucas was conducted today and confirmed he died as a result of injuries sustained from having been shot.
Police are continuing to seek information on two white men, between the ages of 20-30, who were seen fleeing the building immediately following the incident. They fled on foot heading north on Clifton Street toward St. Alban’s Street and were both described as wearing athletic clothing.
Police don’t believe this incident is random, as it has been determined to be drug related. Investigators in the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit are continuing to ask anyone with information on this incident to call (902) 490-5016.
