Halifax Regional Police are on scene of an injury motor vehicle accident on Agricola Street at McCully Street. Patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle which fled, the vehicle then struck a power pole.
An occupant of the vehicle was taken to the QE2 , the injuries appear to be non life threatening . Agricola Street from North Street to May Street will be closed until further notice. Any further inquiries can be directed to the Nova Scotia Serious Response Team.

Investigation Opened into Motor Vehicle Crash on Agricola St.
At approximately 3:50 a.m. this morning a member of the Halifax Regional Police (HRP) attempted to pull over a car on Agricola St. in Halifax. The car quickly accelerated and struck a power pole near the intersection with McCully St. The male driver of the car fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later. A male passenger remained in the car. Neither suffered serious injury. A female passenger in the backseat was removed from the car and taken to hospital. She suffered fractures to both legs and her wrist.
As a result of the injuries HRP contacted SiRT at 4:20 a.m. After the injuries were confirmed SiRT assumed responsibility for investigation into the circumstances of the attempted stop early this morning.

The Serious Incident Response Team is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, whether or not there is an allegation of wrongdoing.
The team can independently begin an investigation after a referral from a chief of police, the head of the RCMP in Nova Scotia or the Minister of Justice. It can also investigate after a complaint from the public.
The Police Act requires the director to file a public report summarizing the result of the investigation within three months after it is finished.
