At 8:40 pm, Halifax Regional Police responded to a 911 call at the Quick Plus Convenience Store, 1475 Lower Water Street.
The lone female clerk stated that a male entered the store with a hand gun and demanded cash. The suspect slapped the clerk across the face with his hand, then fled the store with nothing. The suspect is described as a white male approximately 20 years of age, 5'8", 160 lbs. He was wearing a black mask covering 3/4 of his face, and a black hoddie with white lettering. The clerk refused medical treatment, the assault did not result in serious injury.
Patrol members and K-9 are currently on scene looking for the suspect.
Investigators in the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigative Section are in the initial stages of their investigation and are asking anyone who has information about this attempted robbery to contact 490-5016 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-888-222-TIPS (8477).
