At 8:32 p.m., police responded to the U-Haul at 5280 Green St. in Halifax for a break and enter in progress. A male had smashed out the window to the business and fled the scene in a stolen U-Haul van northbound on Barrington St.
Police then observed the U-Haul going north bound on Barrington St. and activated emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The van did not stop for police and continued northbound on Barrington St attempting to turn left onto Devonshire Ave. where it struck a curb and came to rest against an embankment.
Police arrested the 35 year old male driver of the U-Haul at the scene and he is currently in custody facing numerous charges.
Investigation is on-going at this time.
