Meteghan RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Meteghan.

On February 16, 2024, at approximately 12:33 a.m., Meteghan RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Hwy. 1. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a blue 2023 Hyundai Elantra was travelling east on the highway when it left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch.  

The driver and sole occupant, a 43-year-old Meteghan man, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation remains ongoing and is being assisted by the Medical Examiner Service.

Hwy. 1 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
