Police investigate fatal pedestrian hit-and-run

Truro Police Service is actively investigating a fatal hit and run incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred early this morning. At approximately 1:18 am, on June 28, 2024, at the intersection of King St and Duke St in Truro, a 40-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Officers have seized the vehicle involved in the incident. It has been identified as a black, 2014 Hyundai Elantra with Nova Scotia license plate HBC 115. It sustained significant front-end damage during the incident.

“Our investigation into this incident is ongoing,” said Chief of Police, Dave MacNeil. “We urge anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle or has any relevant camera footage from the area after midnight last night to contact the Truro Police Service immediately at 902-895-5351.”

This case has been assigned file number 2024897717.

The Truro Police Service will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
