Halifax District RCMP responded to the report of a home invasion at a residence in Lake Echo just prior to 11 p.m. last evening.
Initial investigation showed that four males wearing masks forced their way in to the home while a male and female were home. During the incident the suspects were observed carrying handguns and a crowbar. The suspects left after stealing money and other items from the house. The 55-year-old man was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being assaulted with a crowbar. The 54-year-old female was not injured during the incident.
The four suspects were last seen leaving the residence in a light coloured newer model Dodge Ram truck. The suspects were not located.
Suspect 1 is described as a black male, approximately 30-years-old, 6-foot-3, black flat haircut, and chubby cheeks. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark pullover hoodie with white lettering on the front, and a beige Halloween style mask with red blood-like lines down the front and sides of the mask.
Suspect 2 is described a black male, approximately 30-years-old, 5-foot-7, and medium-thin build. He was wearing baggy blue jeans, a zipped up two-tone beige hoodie with a black ball cap and a dark coloured handkerchief mask.
Suspect 3 is described as a black male, mid-twenties, 5-foot-6, small build. He was wearing dark coloured loose sweat pants and sneakers.
Suspect 4 is described as a black male, approximately 30-years-old, 5-foot-10. No clothing description available.
The Halifax Regional Police K-9 Unit, RCMP Forensic Identification Section, Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Unit, and Halifax Regional Police assisted with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and is now being led by the Integrated General Investigation Section.
