Police investigate lane-crossing as factor in fatal F-150 and Mazda crash

RCMP release:

Kings District RCMP is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Middle Dyke Rd. in Chipmans Corner on October 28.

Yesterday, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Kings District RCMP, EHS and fire responded to a report of two-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Middle Dyke Road in Chipmans Corner involving a Ford F-150 and a Mazda CX. A preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the F-150 was travelling north when it crossed over the centre lane and collided head on with the Mazda CX.

The driver and sole occupant of the F-150 was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the Mazda CX, a 75-year-old North Kentville woman, was transported to hospital by EHS with minor injuries.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the roadway was closed for several hours before reopening.

The investigation is ongoing.

Kings District RCMP would like to thank local residents who responded immediately to the collision.
