Police investigate local robberies, Halifax, N.S.

Halifax RCMP/HRP Integrated GIS are investigating two robberies that occurred yesterday in Tantallon and Cole Harbour. At 6:38 p.m., Tantallon RCMP responded to a robbery at Lawton's Drugs Store on St.

Halifax RCMP/HRP Integrated GIS are investigating two robberies that occurred yesterday in Tantallon and Cole Harbour.

At 6:38 p.m., Tantallon RCMP responded to a robbery at Lawton’s Drugs Store on St.

Margaret’s Bay Road. A lone male suspect entered the store and threatened a female employee with a syringe/needle. He demanded that she hand over prescription drugs. The employee complied and the suspect fled the store. A police service dog assisted the officers but the man could not be located. Police believe the man got into a car. No one was injured.

The matter remains under investigation by the RCMP/HRP Integrated GIS Unit.

At 6:47 p.m., Cole Harbour RCMP responded to a street level robbery behind Cole Harbour Place. A 14-year-old youth was approached by a group of teens. A 16-year-old suspect threatened the youth and stole the victim’s cell phone, keys and cigarettes. Further investigation by the GIS unit resulted in an 18-year-old female being arrested. The two suspects are now facing Criminal Code charges including Robbery and Breach of Recognizances. They remain in police custody and will be appearing in court later this morning. There were no reports of any injuries in this matter.
