Last evening at 9:43 pm the Halifax Regional Police, Central Quick Response members attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Novalea Dr in Halifax. The vehicle refused to stop for the police and it fled south on Gottingen St. Halifax, throwing fire extinguishers out of the vehicle.
At 9:47 pm police received a report of a motor vehicle collision between a Halifax Transit bus and a car on North St at Robie St. The car had struck the bus, causing the bus to crash into a brick wall on the sidewalk. Witnesses stated the four occupants of the car ran from the scene. The male bus driver was taken to the hospital for assessment; the other passengers on the bus were not injured.
This was the same vehicle which fled from the police and the investigation determined the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the month from the Sackville area. The driver of the car was a male , other occupants were one female and two other males, they all appeared 16 to 20 years old.
