Police investigate shooting near Veith and Hanover Streets in Halifax

Halifax Regional Police are investigating after an adult was shot late Thursday night in Halifax’s north end.

According to police, officers were called to the area of Veith Street and Hanover Street just before 11 p.m. on October 23 following reports of a weapons incident. When they arrived, they found an adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The person was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a statement posted to social media, Halifax Regional Police said they do not believe the shooting was random and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the general public. Investigators remain on scene and are asking residents to stay clear of the area while the investigation continues.

Several police units responded to the scene, including patrol officers and forensic investigators. Roads in the immediate area were temporarily restricted overnight as evidence was collected.
