DSC_0478_wm

At approximately 1:20 am Halifax Regional Police officers responded to a report of a possible gunshot being heard in the area of Prince Albert Rd and Lawrence St in Dartmouth.  On their arrival, officers obtained information that indicated that one potential gunshot had been heard in the area, however, it had occurred approximately 20 minutes prior to police being called.  Witnesses provided information to police about a suspicious vehicle and man that had been seen in the area at the time the sound was heard, however, no evidence could be located that would indicate a shot had been fired.  Halifax Regional Police officers working dayshift today (Monday) continued to follow up on the information and searched the area in the daylight with the assistance of an RCMP Police Services Dog.  Officers located additional witnesses and evidence that supports the fact that a firearm had been discharged.  HRP is currently on scene canvassing the area and searching for addition evidence.  There is currently no indication of anyone having been injured and no damaged property located.  The investigation will continue and will be conducted by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

Halifax Regional Police are interested in speaking with anyone that may have information in relation to this incident, in particular the driver of a gray/silver pickup truck that was stopped in the area at approximately 1:00 am this morning and a man seen running toward it described as being black, carrying a duffle bag.

Officers are looking to speak with anyone who may have any knowledge of this incident and ask that they contact Halifax Regional Police at 902-490-5020.
