Police investigating a single vehicle accident

At 1:26 a.m. police responded to a single motor vehicle accident in the 2200 block of Connaught Ave.  The vehicle was driving northbound on Connaught Ave from Quinpool Rd. when the driver lost control and struck a tree and fire hydrant.  The driver was taken to hospital by EHS with what are believed to be life threatening injuries.  A front passenger was treated and released.

Police have the northbound lane of Connaught Ave. closed between Quinpool Rd. and Oak St. at this time while we conduct an investigation.  The investigation is in it’s preliminary stages and more information will be released when available.
