Police Investigating Apartment Scam

Halifax Regional Police are warning the public about an apartment rental scam.

On August 24, Halifax Regional Police received a fraud complaint from a man who believes he is the victim of an apartment rental scam. He replied to a Kijiji post advertising an apartment for rent at 1740 Robie Street. He met with the landlord, inspected the apartment and then provided a deposit and signed a lease. The landlord’s phone has since been disconnected and he has cut off all communication with the renter.

Police have received a number of similar complaints about the same apartment building dating back to April 2012. Police continue to investigate these incidents.
