From HRPD:
Halifax Regional Police is currently on scene at a break and enter into a residence in Dartmouth that occurred early this morning.
At 4:45 a.m., police were called to a stabbing in the 300 block of Portland Street. A 37-year-old man awoke to find two men in his residence. The two men assaulted him and one of the men stabbed him. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators do not believe this was a random incident as several marijuana plants were found in the home.
The HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Unit are examining the scene. Once that is completed, the HRP/RCMP Integrated Drug Unit will be conducting a search of the residence.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 490-5016 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
