Police investigating dog attack in Dartmouth

Police are investigating an incident where a dog attacked another dog and several people yesterday in Dartmouth.

At approximately 2:15 p.m. police responded to a report that a dog had attacked another dog and bit several people on a trail in the area of Freshwater Trail in Dartmouth. A woman was walking her leashed dog on the trail and had just passed by a man who was walking his leashed dog when her dog turned and attacked the man’s dog. Other people in the area came to the assistance of the two dog owners and together they were able to secure the dog until officers arrived on scene.

The two dog owners and a woman who came to their assistance were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The man’s dog was transported to a veterinary clinic, and as a result of its injuries, was humanely euthanized. Animal Services took custody of the dog that committed the attacks.
