Police Investigating Domestic Assault

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a domestic assault that took place earlier this afternoon in Halifax.
 
At 12:20 p.m., police responded to an assault in progress at an apartment building on Flamingo Drive involving a male suspect who had fled the area prior to police arrival. The victims, a woman and child, were transported to the IWK hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. Through the course of the investigation, officers seized a handgun outside the building that was not used during the assault.
 
A thorough search of the area was conducted and at this time police are continuing to look for the 27-year-old suspect. The investigation is ongoing, however, charges are expected.
