Police investigating fatal fire at cabin

RCMP release:

Queens District RCMP and partner agencies are investigating a fatal structure fire that occurred outside Kempt.

On October 13, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Queens District RCMP learned about a structure fire at a remote cabin on Albanynew Rd. When firefighters extinguished the fire, they found human remains inside the cabin and notified the RCMP.

At this time, based on the information and evidence gathered at the scene, the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature.

The investigation is ongoing in partnership with the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal’s Office and the Medical Examiner Service.

Our thoughts are with the deceased’s loved ones during this difficult time.
