Antigonish County District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in James River.
On December 3, at approximately 4:30 pm, Antigonish County District RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Hwy. 104 near exit 30 in James River. RCMP officers learned that a Toyota Yaris and a Toyota Corolla were travelling, in a construction zone, in opposite directions when they collided.
The driver and lone occupant of the Corolla, a 58-year-old Lower South River man, sustained significant injuries. He was transported to hospital by EHS where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver and lone occupant of the Yaris, a 21-year-old Trenton woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
Hwy. 104 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
