Police Investigating Multiple Assaults/Robberies from over the Weekend

From HRPD:

Officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP General Investigation Section are
investigating a number of robberies and assaults that occurred over the
weekend.

In addition to the two incidents last night that occurred in the
Gladstone Street and Davison Street areas, police are investigating four
other similar incidents.

Two of the incidents occurred in the area of Maitland Street and Divas
Lane on Friday night at 9:20 and 11:37 p.m. respectively. In the first
incident a man and woman were approached by a group of six to eight
males in their late teens. The couple was asked for a cigarette
and when they said they didn’t have one, the group assaulted them,
resulting in cuts that required hospital treatment. In the second
incident, a lone man was assaulted by a group of six to eight people.
The man was able to make his way to a nearby address where police and
EHS were called. He was taken to hospital with what are believed to be
non life-threatening injuries. He was only able to provide a description
of one of the suspects who is a male wearing a white t-shirt with
blue jeans.

The next incident took place at 8:43 p.m. on Saturday night in the area
of Maitland Street and Divas Lane. A man and woman were walking in the
area when they were approached by a group of males. One of the males
engaged the victim in a conversation and asked for a cigarette. When the
victim said he didn’t have any, the suspect punched him. The man and
woman fled to a nearby address where police were called.

The fourth incident took place in the area of Agricola and Charles
Streets on Sunday morning at 12:26 a.m. Three men were walking south on
Agricola Street when they were approached by a group of youths. One of
the suspects asked them for a cigarette and when he was told no, the
suspect punched one of the victims, knocking him to the ground. When his
friend helped him up, the rest of the group began trying to punch them.
They were able to flee the area and were checked by EHS but did not have
to attend hospital for treatment.

Police believe these incidents are connected and are investigating them
collectively. These incidents are cowardly attacks which will not be
tolerated. Accordingly, additional resources will be deployed in the
areas where these incidents have occurred.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is asked to
contact police at 490-5016 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at
1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
