Police Investigating Property Damage/Oil Spills

From HRPD: Halifax Regional Police is investigating two separate incidents in Dartmouth where oil tank lines were removed resulting in oil spills.

Halifax Regional Police is investigating two separate incidents in Dartmouth where oil tank lines were removed resulting in oil spills.

Officers responded to a residence on Farquharson Street at approximately 6:30 a.m. after receiving a report that the line from the oil tank to the home had been removed. An unknown quantity of oil leaked at that location.

At 11:13 a.m., police were called to a business in the 100 block of Main Street after staff discovered the line from the oil tank had been removed resulting in an oil leak.

Further to the above incidents there have been two more related incidents where the copper line from oil tanks have been removed and taken.

These incidents occurred in the 100 block of Tacoma Drive and a residence on Weyburn drive both in the East end of Dartmouth.

All incidents are believed to have occurred overnight and anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact police at 490-5016 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
