Police investigating sexual assault in Bedford

Halifax Regional Police is investigating a sexual assault and a suspicious circumstances incident that occurred in Bedford this month.

On July 19, police received a report of a sexual assault that had occurred on July 12. At approximately 10 a.m. a man walking in the area of Tilbury Lane and Innsbrook Way approached a woman who was not known to him and spoke to her. He then touched her in a sexual manner before fleeing the area on foot.

On July 18 at approximately 8:10 p.m. a suspicious circumstances incident occurred in the same area. A man approached a female youth who was not known to him and tried to start a conversation. The youth quickly left the area and reported the incident to a trusted adult who contacted police. The suspect description is similar to the suspect description in the sexual assault and police are exploring the possibility that the same suspect is responsible for both incidents.

The suspect is described as in his early 20s, approximately 5’8″ tall, slim build, clean shaven, short dark wavy hair, wearing a blue t-shirt and pants and carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information in relation to the incident or the identity of suspect, or who has video from the area, is asked to call police at 902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or by using the P3 Tips app.
