Police kept busy overnight with two robberies, an arson and suspicious incident

Robbery 16-116681

 

Shortly before 11:00pm East Division officers were called to the intersection of Farrell St and Windmill Road in relation to a robbery.

 

Upon arrival officers located a 64 year old Dartmouth man who states he was robbed of his wallet, phone and hearing aids as he was walking in the area by two males not known to him.  The victim in this matter suffered minor injuries and no weapons were reported.

 

The suspects were described by the victim as being visibly intoxicated, black males in their 20’s wearing long jean shorts.

Robbery 16-116714

 

Shortly before midnight East Division officers were dispatched to a report of a robbery at Robert’s Pizza and Donair on Windmill Road in Dartmouth.

 

Upon arrival officers located an employee who was bleeding as he had sustained deep cuts to his hands and arms.

 

He stated he was working in the restaurant and a male and female entered and robbed him armed with a knife.  During the robbery the victim sustained cuts that required medical attention to his hands.  The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

 

Officers were onscene quickly and with help of the public were able to locate the responsible parties at an apartment building in the 0-100 block of Primrose Street in Dartmouth. 

 

The Integrated General Investigation Section is currently interviewing a 27 year-old man and a 23 year-old woman in connection with the robbery. 

 

The victim was treated at the scene and subsequently transported to hospital for further care.  More information on this matter will be released as it becomes available.

Suspiscious Circumstances 16-116665

 

At approximately 1015pm Central Division officers were dispatched to the area of Oxford and Almon Streets to three separate reports from the public of a woman who appeared in distress in the passenger seat of a white sedan driving from the area at a high rate of speed.

 

Units arrived on scene shortly thereafter, however they could not locate the vehicle. 

 

The vehicle is described as a white, four door sedan, possibly a Toyota.  The woman in distress is described as white, 18-25 years of age, with dark hair and a dark shirt.

 

The driver is described as a 30 year-old male wearing dark clothing.

 

Information is very limited at his time, and police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle involved or the occupants to ensure their well-being.  Police are asking residents in the areas of Swaine, Berlin, Connaught, Oxford and Almon to check any outward facing cameras they may own for images of this vehicle that may have been captured last night around the time of the incident.

Arson 16-116722

 

Central Division officers were called to the 2500 block of Elm Street in Halifax at the request of Halifax Regional Fire at shortly before 1:00am.

 

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Services were called to the area to extinguish a fire that was on the deck.  Upon inspection fire fighters noted what appeared to be an incendiary device and called police.

 

Damage was centralized to the deck of the home and was extinguished quickly.

 

No one was injured in this incident and officers are still completing the preliminary investigation.  More information will be released when it becomes available.
