Police lay Animal Cruelty charge – Halifax

On July 30, at approximately 4:10 p.m., officers responded to the 6000 block of North Street in Halifax to the report of a man assaulting a dog.
Witnesses called police after observing the man forcibly dragging the dog by its leash and kicking it in the head.  The witnesses remained on scene until police arrival.
The dog was taken to an animal clinic by Animal Services where it is being monitored. The dog is not believed to be seriously injured.
The 58-year-old Halifax man was arrested at the scene and faces a charge of Animal Cruelty.  He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.
