Police Lay Charges in Theft of Firearms Case

 

On August 14, 2012, Halifax Regional Police responded to a break and enter call at a residence on Lorway Drive in Dartmouth. Several items were taken, including four firearms, which were recovered by police four days later.
As a result of the ongoing investigation into the break and enter, a 24-year-old Dartmouth man was arrested on the evening of December 6 at the Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside, where he is incarcerated for breaching court ordered conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face the following charges:
88 Possession of weapon dangerous to public peace (4 counts)
92(1) Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized (4 counts)
96 Possession of a weapon obtained by crime (4 counts)
99(1) Weapons trafficking (4 counts)
98(1)(b) Break and enter stealing firearms (4 counts)
348(1)(b) Break and enter
7 33.1(1)(a) Further breach probation (2 counts)
145(3) x 7 Breach recognizance
117.01 x 12 Breach prohibitions
Last week, in connection with this break and enter case, police conducted two searches of residences in Dartmouth and seized a total of 25 firearms and a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Twenty-three-year-old Jonathan Vincent McNeil and two 29-year-old women, all of Dartmouth, face charges in relation to these searches. This investigation is continuing and police anticipate more charges.
