Police lay charges in two vehicle/pedestrian collisions

Halifax Regional Police investigations lead to charges in two previously released vehicle/pedestrian collisions.  On October 28, 2016 at 7:43 p.m., police responded to a vehicle/pedestrian collision at the intersection of Knightsridge Drive and Dunbrack Street in Halifax. A 21-year-old man turning left from Langbrae Drive onto Dunbrack Street struck a 44-year-old woman crossing Dunbrack Street in a marked crosswalk. She suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by EHS.   On January 12, 2017, the driver was issued summary offence tickets for failing to yield to pedestrian at walk light, failing to immediately stop at the scene of an accident, and failing to render reasonable assistance to a person injured in an accident.    On January 4, 2017, at approximately 8:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle/pedestrian collision that had occurred in the area of Albro Lake and Victoria Roads in Dartmouth. A 47-year-old man was driving westbound on Albro Lake Road when his car struck a pedestrian after travelling through the intersection of Victoria Road. The 26-year-old male pedestrian was transported to hospital by EHS Paramedics with injuries that were later determined to be non-life-threatening.  On January 11, the pedestrian was issued a summary offence ticket under Section 125(5) of the Motor Vehicle Act for crossing the roadway outside of a crosswalk zone and failing to yield to traffic.    2016-163127 & 17-1872 Source: Release
