Police lay impaired driving charges after driver crashes into trees and rocks

August 10, 2011, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . Royal Canadian Mounted Police are investigating an incident of Impaired Driving that occurred in Lower Sackville, N.S.
 
On August 9, 2011, 11:12 PM,  RCMP responded to a call that a vehicle had run off the road on Riverside Drive in Lower Sackville.  The police investigation found the car traveled from Beaver Bank Road onto Sackville Drive and that's where the driver drove over the new median, flattened approximately eleven new trees and nearly struck two pedestrians near Riverside Drive.  The car eventually came to a stop on top of some boulders.   The driver then fled into the woods.  Police arrested the driver a short time later.
 
A 23-year-old man from BeaverBank is currently in police custody.  He will be facing charges under the Criminal Code including Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle,  Refusal of Breath Demand, and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He will be appearing in court later today.
