Police are investigating an assault and an arson that occurred in Halifax overnight.
At approximately 11:55 p.m. last night, officers responded to the 5600 block of Kaye Street to a report of an assault. A man threw an object at another man who was not known to him. The suspect fled the area on foot, and the victim did not require medical treatment.
At approximately 12 a.m. today, officers responded with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency to a structure fire at a business at 5517 Young Street. A man started a fire and then fled the area on foot.
The suspect in both incidents was described as a Black man in his thirties to forties, approximately 5’9” to 5’11” tall, with a medium build and a scruffy beard. He was wearing a black hoodie, dark pants and a bandana.
The incidents are being investigated by members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division. Investigators are asking anyone with information or video from the area to call police at 902-490-5020.
