TPS release:
After a lengthy and complex investigation, the Truro Police Service Criminal Investigation Division has arrested Rishonda Raquel Beals, 26, from Dartmouth, in connection with a fatal hit and run that occurred on June 28, 2024, at the intersection of King St and Duke St in Truro which resulted in the tragic death of John William MacDonell.
Beals has been charged with the following offenses:
• Failure to remain at the scene of an accident causing death
• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and
• Public mischief
Truro Chief of Police, Dave MacNeil stated, “Our investigators worked tirelessly to gather the technical and forensic evidence to support the laying of these charges, and we hope that this arrest will bring some comfort to John’s family.”
