Police make quick arrest in vehicle theft

Police arrested three people shortly after being notified of a stolen vehicle early this morning.

Just after 2 a.m., police were called by a Hammonds Plains resident who said his car had just been stolen. Officers were in the area and quickly found the vehicle, then located two suspects as well. A K-9 unit located a third suspect close to the area where the vehicle was found. All three suspects were arrested without incident.

An 18-year-old Beechville man is facing charges of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, and Obstruction. He was released from custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on July 11, 2016.

Two 16-year old youths, one from Hammonds Plains and one from Tantallon, are charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Property. Both were released from custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on July 14, 2016.

The investigation is ongoing.
