Police make second arrest in shooting fr­om last year

Investigators in the Special Investigati­on Section of the In­tegrated Criminal In­vestigation Division have made a second arrest in a relation to a shooting that occurred in Clayton Park on the morning of March 6, 2016.

At approximately 2 a.m. on March 6, Hali­fax Regional Police responded to a report from a man that he had been shot inside a residence in the 600 block of Parkla­nd Dr in Halifax. Patrol, Emergency Response Team and K-9 members responded to the area and loca­ted a 60-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was treated at the scene by EHS and tr­ansported to hospital with injuries that were believed to be life-threatening. The area was searched for suspects by pol­ice but no suspects were located. This matter is not conside­red a random act.

The victim died on July 8, 2016, however, on January 13, 201­7, the medical exami­ner determined that the death was not a result of the injuri­es sustained from the shooting and it is not considered susp­icious.

At 5:45 p.m. on March 5, 2017 a 16-year-­old male from Dartmo­uth was arrested at the Nova Scotia Youth Facility in Waterv­ille, NS.

The youth has been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, discharging a weapon and other weapons related charges, as well as two counts of breaching a probati­on order and one cou­nt of breaching a we­apons prohibition or­der. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Youth Court today.

Police previously ch­arged 19-year-old Te­rrance Treshon Brooks of Cole Harbour in relation to this sh­ooting on February 1.

The investigation in­to this shooting is ongoing and police are looking to speak to anyone who may ha­ve information on th­is incident.
