Police officer assaulted on Argyle St while breaking up fight

One man was charged after an altercation in Downtown Halfiax early this morning.

From HRPD:
At 3:00 am Central units responded to a disturbance at this location and intervened in a fight between two men. During the course of arresting one of the men for causing a disturbance an HRP officer was assaulted (face scratched and spat in the face) causing minor injuries. Medical attention was not required. A 29 year old Halifax man will be released on a Promise to Appear and Undertaking to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date charged with two counts of assaulting police, resisting arrest and causing a disturbance.
