SiRT release:
The Director of the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has reasonable grounds to believe that a member of the Grand Falls Police (GFP) has committed criminal offences.
On March 31, 2025, GFP contacted SiRT regarding information that suggested an active GFP member had engaged in inappropriate contact with a minor.
Following an investigation, on February 10, 2026, Cst. Paul Lavoie was charged with making sexually explicit material available to a child under the age of eighteen years; making sexually explicit material available to a child under the age of sixteen years; luring a child under the age of eighteen; luring a child under the age of sixteen ; and breach of trust by a public officer.
Cst. Lavoie will appear in Edmundston Provincial Court, 121 Rue de l’Église, on April 7, 2026 at 9:30 am.

SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest to be investigated that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer, on or off duty, in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
