Police are on-scene at a barricaded person call in the Fairview area of Halifax.

At 7:51 a.m., police received a 9-1-1 call from a man who had barricaded himself in his apartment at 22 Evans Avenue. At this time, patrol officers, members of the Emergency Response Team, a Crisis Negotiator and EHS are responding to this incident. It is believed that the man is armed with a knife and is the only person in the residence.

A number of apartments in the building have been evacuated for safety reasons and we ask the public to remain away from the area until the situation has been resolved. Police appreciate the cooperation from citizens who had to alter their morning routine to avoid the affected area.
