Police on scene of demonstration in Dartmouth

HRP release:

Halifax Regional Police is on scene in relation to a demonstration in Dartmouth this morning.

At approximately 7:20 a.m. officers were called to a business in the area of the 0-100 block of Akerly Boulevard in relation to a group of people demonstrating and preventing access to the business. There will be a visible police presence to direct traffic, minimize disruptions and promote public safety while the group remains in the area.

We remind the public that while we respect the right to peacefully protest, enforcement actions will be taken as necessary to ensure public safety.

We ask that the public avoid the area and take alternate routes at this time to avoid delays.
