With the impending winter wallop, Partners in Policing are advising motorists to adjust their driving habits tomorrow during the storm. Blizzard conditions are forecasted for Tuesday with poor visibility and blowing snow.
Police remind motorists to clear snow and ice from all windows and mirrors on their vehicle as well as from the roof to prevent blowing snow before they start out on the road. Drivers are also asked to adjust their driving habits and be mindful of the changing road conditions during the storm.
A vehicle’s stopping distance increases when it’s slippery so allow extra space between your vehicle and the one ahead of you. When approaching a red light or stop sign, begin stopping earlier to help prevent sliding into the intersection. Visibility may also be an issue. Pedestrians are reminded to make eye contact with drivers and wait until the vehicle comes to a complete stop before attempting to cross the road.
