Police remind the public to exercise caution regarding door-to-door and tele-marketing solicitation

July 25, 2011, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), Nova Scotia… On the afternoon of July 24, 2011, Members of Halifax District Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Lower Sackville Detachment responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Joan Drive and Monarch Drive in Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia.
A 21-year-old male had been canvassing door-to-door for a charitable organization in relation to missing children.   The male was handing out the organization's brochures as well as the RCMP Foundation Child Identification Kits which have the name and logo printed on the kit.
 
RCMP would like to advise the public that the only missing children organizations recognized by RCMP in Nova Scotia are Child Find Nova Scotia, Missing Children Society of Canada, Operation Come Home, Victims of Violence/Center for Missing Children and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (US).
